G502 HERO or G502 X wired: compare weight tuning and controls

Compare the documented wired G502 HERO and G502 X body weights, optional HERO weights and control specifications without mixing LIGHTSPEED models or older tuning parts.

Keep the wired model name with the decision

G502 HERO and G502 X Wired are different wired references. HERO is listed at 121 g and offers optional extra weights; G502 X is listed at 89 g and its current product description names LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switch technology. If you want the documented HERO tuning system, check that exact package. If the lower listed body mass and X control design are the reasons for changing, compare the wired X rather than assuming every mouse named G502 has the same construction.

This comparison uses the current US manufacturer pages captured on October 30, 2026. The first real photograph is identified by its uploader as G502 HERO; no original G502 X photograph was obtained. The actual mouse image shows a lead and body controls, but its underside identifier is not visible. A lit G logo or familiar outline cannot authenticate the complete retail model. No click, tracking, cable-drag, handling or game-performance test was performed here.

Read the body and control fields using their own labels

The listed mass difference is 32 g:121 minus 89. That is a comparison of manufacturer figures, not a weighing of the photographed mouse or a claim that the lighter model improves aim. Their body dimensions also differ. HERO lists 131.2 mm along the body,75 mm width and 40 mm profile; X lists 131.4 mm length,79.2 mm width and 41.1 mm height. The nearly equal lengths do not make their shapes or controls identical.

The HERO page describes 11 programmable buttons, while the X specification lists 13 programmable controls. Those are the manufacturer labels used in the table; do not silently reinterpret controls as an independently counted set of 13 separate physical buttons. Confirm the exact commands and supported configuration you need rather than choosing only the larger headline count. Our photographs do not measure actuation force, button accessibility or the success of an application mapping.

The old 1.7 g cartridge is not the HERO weight specification

HERO documentation lists up to 18 g of optional extra weight using five 3.6 g pieces. Read the quantity and individual mass together. A seller showing some loose metal pieces or a Logitech G logo has not established that they are the documented HERO set. For used or open-box equipment, ask which pieces and any required covers are actually supplied, then verify their compatibility with the exact mouse.

The separate real photograph makes the error visible: its older cartridge has six circular pieces marked 1.7 g. It is not a picture of five 3.6 g HERO pieces. We do not recommend fitting that older cartridge or infer compatibility from the common G branding. Adding the documented full 18 g to HERO's listed 121 g gives 139 g arithmetically, but that is not our measured assembled mass or a statement that every offer arrives with all weights installed.

The sensor headline does not decide the switch or weight choice

The current HERO reference lists a HERO sensor and a 100?25,600 DPI range. G502 X lists HERO 25K with the same stated resolution range. Shared endpoints do not establish equal handling or make every generation interchangeable. Other manufacturer tracking figures also have stated test conditions; they are not an independent result obtained from the photographed mouse. Choose the feature that solves the actual requirement rather than converting a maximum DPI number into a game outcome.

G502 X's own product description specifically names LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switch technology and a lightened scroll wheel. This is a manufacturer construction statement. It is not a measured latency, lifetime or sound comparison with HERO, and we do not assume that a technology name guarantees a particular personal preference. If the switch mechanism is your reason for choosing X, retain the complete wired X model reference with that claim.

Check the actual wired host path and setup requirements

Both cited wired product references require a USB port and describe optional manufacturer configuration software. Identify the exact plug, host socket and any required adapter in your own setup. The independent USB-A photograph shows a real rectangular connector form, which is useful when distinguishing that host opening from a USB-C-shaped one. It is not either mouse's photographed cable, and it does not approve a specific adapter, cable replacement or data path.

Keep G502 LIGHTSPEED and other wireless variants outside this wired comparison. A shared family name does not transfer a receiver, battery, charging requirement or wireless operating mode to a wired order. Likewise, a connection that supplies power is not by itself evidence that the pointer data path or optional software features work. Use the supported operating-system and software requirements for the exact model and actual computer; we did not conduct a compatibility or installation test.

Choose the feature and complete package you actually need

Keep HERO on the shortlist when its documented optional-weight arrangement is the feature you want and the supplied components match the offer. Keep G502 X Wired on the shortlist when its lower listed 89 g mass and documented control or switch design address the requirement. The 32 g base-figure difference and a possible HERO weight addition are useful comparisons, but neither is a universal comfort or performance verdict.

Before checkout, record the complete wired model name, required host connection, desired controls, included accessories and any stated return conditions together. Current US prices, stock, delivery and final checkout totals were not verified here. The three photographs answer physical identification, tuning-part mismatch and host-connector questions; current X specifications come from its official page. No conclusion about click feel, durability or aiming quality is substituted for an unperformed test.
