C920 or C920s: identify the included privacy shutter
C920s currently lists a privacy shutter in its manufacturer package contents. Compare that evidence with the historical C920 guide without assuming every present seller bundle is identical.
Updated:

Choose from the actual package contents
Choose C920s when a manufacturer-listed included privacy shutter is a requirement: its current US product page explicitly lists that accessory with the webcam and attached USB-A cable. For C920, the historical manufacturer setup guide checked here identifies the lens, microphones, activity light, flexible clip and tripod attachment, but does not list a shutter. That is a documented comparison, not proof that every current third-party C920 bundle contains exactly the original items.
No original photograph of C920 or C920s is used here. The closed-cover webcam photograph is a different Brio 301, and the other images show separate real covering arrangements. They illustrate the optical barrier and mounting questions, not what is inside either current retail box. For a C920 offer, obtain the complete model and actual included-accessory description before deciding whether a cover is present, absent or an additional purchase.

A physical lens boundary does not establish the audio state
A lens cover and a microphone mute answer different questions. Both the C920 guide and C920s information identify microphones. Closing a cover is therefore not evidence that the microphone has been muted or that the application has lost audio access. Check the actual platform controls when deciding what the intended off-camera arrangement must do.
Similarly, a cover is not a guarantee that all software permissions or device access have been disabled. This guide does not test privacy behavior or certify a secure meeting setup. Its useful distinction is narrower and concrete: C920s has a manufacturer-listed physical shutter in the package, while an exact seller's contents and the computer's separate audio and application settings still need to be established.
The Brio 301 photo has a real closed central cover while separate front openings and the mount remain visible. The laptop image shows an opaque covering over its camera area. Neither photograph reports microphone mute, device access or application permissions. These are separate checks: an optical barrier at the lens must not be treated as proof of the audio or software state. No cover was operated or recording attempted for this guide.

Check the mount instead of relying on a familiar body
C920s lists a fixed mounting clip and manufacturer dimensions of 43.3 mm high, 94 mm wide and 71 mm deep for the camera including that clip. Those are device specifications, not a measurement of the available space on your monitor. Account for the actual bezel, screen position and intended support arrangement before assuming the new unit fits exactly like an existing webcam.
The separate iMac photograph shows a real slider attachment on a display bezel. Its mounting surface and camera opening are a different arrangement from a webcam body, so it is not a compatible-cover recommendation for C920 or C920s. If planning an added cover for existing equipment, verify the actual lens position, surrounding openings and mounting clearance against that specific accessory. The historical C920 guide also describes monitor, desktop and tripod positions; none of these photographs is our fit test.

A historical setup guide is not current software approval
The C920 guide contains legacy operating-system and video-calling instructions. We use it to identify the documented hardware and original setup boundary, not to recommend its old utilities or imply current support for every application. Check the actual operating system, calling software and supported camera configuration you intend to use now.
C920s currently lists USB-A and named Windows, macOS and ChromeOS compatibility, while its camera modes are specified separately. A physically suitable plug does not establish that every software feature is available in every calling platform or through every adapter. No current C920-versus-C920s image-quality, microphone-quality or latency test was performed for this guide.
Keep the suffix and the actual seller offer together
The Brio 301 example is an actual different webcam with a physical cover and its own mounting arrangement. Its appearance must not supply C920 or C920s specifications or prove what a seller includes. Read the complete model name and accessory description together, and retain the relevant source generation. Similar black bodies, a familiar logo or a photograph of a cover on another device cannot settle a missing item in the actual quotation.
For a buyer who specifically needs a documented included shutter, the current C920s manufacturer contents provide the clearer evidence. An existing C920 or a separately described C920 bundle may still meet a particular requirement, but establish that exact arrangement rather than assuming the suffix alone proves every detail. We have not verified current US stock, final prices, delivery or a compatible third-party cover, and do not claim that replacing an otherwise suitable camera is always necessary.
